In April 2010 Jenesee moved to a new apartment with new roommates she didn’t know. She was nervous, but ready to take a fresh start at life! She was excited to meet new people, make new friends, and date around for a while instead of being in a relationship.
One night, she and her roommate Brandy, were talking about guys and what they each thought their husband would be like. Jenesee said she wanted him to be the best looking “Peter Priesthood” around. The more she divulged to Brandy, the more Brandy schemed. Brandy declared she knew just the right person for Jenesee. She explained that she had gone on several dates with this guy in the ward during Fall Semester. They liked each other, but things didn’t end up working out. She said he was exactly the guy Jenesee was describing. Of course, Jenesee was intrigued, but thought it would be incredible awkward to try and date him after Brandy already had! Brandy immediately called up this guy, Scott Lewis, to see what they were up to that night. They were having a boys night at the movies, but invited us!
The whole night was a little awkward for Jenesee. Scott was obviously talking to Brandy the entire time, because they hadn’t caught up in months! Scott also wondered what Brandy’s intentions were for calling him out of the blue to hang out. They sat boy, girl, boy, girl with Scott in between Jenesee and Brandy. Jenesee tried to make conversation with Scott, but it was quite difficult. Especially since the guy on her other side was trying to charm it up for her! She spent most of the movie whispering to the other guy, while Scott and Brandy whispered to each other. Needless to say, Jenesee didn’t think there was any reason to pursue this “Scott Lewis” guy.
On Sunday, Brandy and Jenesee planned a movie night and texted Scott and his roommates to come. Lets be honest, the only reason this was planned, was for Jenesee to try again with this guy! He answered back saying he was in Salt Lake but would try to stop by later on. Jenesee waited for that knock on the door all night! But he never came…
The boys made up up for it by having us over a few days later. Jenesee and Scott spent most of that event on the couch chatting away
But Scott was still a little oblivious. A few days later, Scott texted Jenesee, and she was ecstatic!! Until she read the text, “Hey Jenesee, _____ from the movie the other night wants your number. Is it cool if I give it to him?”
She brainstormed with her parents and Brandy for an hour, before they finally came up with a response: “Well, that one’s up to you, because that’s not why I gave you my number”
Hands shaking, she sent it. He wasn’t sure if he was reading into the text, or if Jenesee had meant what he thought she meant. But he decided to go with it, and said they should go play tennis sometime.
Two weeks passed but Scott had not asked Jenesee out. She was discouraged, and ready to give up with this guy. While working at the salon one Saturday, Jenesee was telling the other girls about this cute guy in her ward that she wanted to ask her out. Suddenly, Jenesee’s phone rang and it was Scott Lewis. He finally asked her out!
They went with another couple in the ward to Jump On It. The only problem was that the other girl was a BYU gymnast and cheerleader. Jenesee can’t do gymnastics for her life. So Scott thought Jenesee was trying to be ditsy, which is not his thing. But they had fun anyway. Afterwards, they all had rootbeer floats, and while the other couple chatted in the kitchen, Jenesee and Scott began their first Mario Kart War. They didn’t want to end the date when the night was over, and it’s all history from there!
They were married December 23, 2010 in the Newport Beach LDS temple
Where are they now?
They both recently graduating from BYU. Scott studied Food Science, Jenesee studied Home and Family Living with her emphasis in Clothing Design. They just moved to Las Vegas in May, so Scott can attend UNLV Dental School! Jenesee is working as a receptionist at a dental office. She would love to be able to own a baby boutique, do hair at home, and be a momma some day.
Welcome to our life, we are the Lewis’!
